The Soroptimist
International of the Philippines Region (A Foundation) Inc. (SIPR)
celebrates Soroptimist Week on August 25-31, 2008. SIPR Governor
Carmen Araneta Flor leads 2,000 Soroptimists all over the country
in commemorating the birth anniversary on August 30 of its Founder
President, Mariquita S. Castelo. The following is the schedule of
activities:
August 26, Tuesday - courtesy call on Manila Mayor
Alfredo S. Lim; tree planting at Mehan Garden led by SI Manila Tourist
Belt President Estrelita Hizon; lunch followed by a workshop at
the Orchidarium, Rizal Park, to be conducted by Isabel S. Diquiatco,
Nimfa Hernandez (non-formal education) and Adelina Rangga (food
preservation) ·
August 27, Wednesday - Signing of Memorandum of Agreement
with the SI Founder Manila, led by Ampy Araullo, Chair of the Adopt-a-
barangay Committee ·
August 28, Thursday - bowling tournament chaired by
SI Sampaloc President Violy Lapid - E Lanes Bowling Center; amateur
singing contest chaired by Beth Diaz. Both events will be held at
the Bo Bistro, 416 Ortigas Ave., Greenhills, San Juan City. ·
August 29, Friday - Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement
with SI Caloocan’s Women and Children Protection Desk., led by Guia
C. Martinez, Chair of the Adopt-a-PNP Women and Children Desk; visit
to the Women's Correctional in Mandaluyong City, chaired by Gloria
Bernardo and SI Caloocan President Luz Reyes as Chairpersons. ·
August 30, Saturday - Mass at 9am Archdiocessan shrine
of Nuestra Senora de Guia in Ermita, Manila to commemorate the Birth
Anniversary of Founder Marquita S. Castelo, chaired by SI Manila
Tourist Belt President Mary Jazul; Soroptimist Soup Kitchen at the
Soroptimist Center, Coastal Road, Navotas City with chair Jennie
Sandoval; lunch at Pescadores Restaurant; and wreath laying at the
Manila Memorial Park, chaired by Mary Jazul.
August 31, Sunday - Thanksgiving Mass for Service
Projects to be celebrated at the Fatima Chapel, UE Tech Subdivision,
Caloocan City, chaired by Ligaya J. Robles. Distribution of flyers
of Women Opportunity Award (WOA), Violet Richardson Award (VRA)
and Making a Difference for Women Award (MADWA) for public awareness.
SIPR Secretary Fe Amor Ilagan and Metro Manila North West District
Director Flery Marcelo are the overall chairperson and co-chairperson,
respectively. |
